If the hospitality sector wasnt in enough of a mess, you'll now have a load of independent traders having a load of short life food that isnt going to be sold tomorrow. Good for the foodbanks, not so much for them.

Of course it's logisitically possible to put the matches on, just likes it's logistically possible for tomorrow's matches to be on. There's no good reason for cancelling them, whatsoever. All it's done is massively diminish goodwill towards the Royal Family, and isn't actually achieving the 'respect' it sets out to.

I meant it more in terms of policing resources so probably London based games will be called off next week with endless people going down there to line the streets for the funeral.

However we're playing in Aston on a Friday night and Southampton at home must be as low risk as you get during a season, will certainly be in bottom 5 list for WMP so I'd certainly be as miffed as you if that gets grouped in blanket postpontment, has to be a match by match decision there.

Rugby is all on…

Not entirely. Looks like they'll lose one match from today...

The two games scheduled to take place on Friday evening – Bristol vs Bath and Sale vs Northampton – have been postponed. It is expected the Bristol match will take place on Saturday instead.

Personally, I think its the right decision, but recognize many don't like it.

For Villa, it may work in our favor. We have a home game coming up Friday, that should generate a cracking atmosphere, is very winnable, and could see us on a roll into the break and more time to reset, get our new signings up to speed etc.  A loss against LCFC would have created a real bad feeling.

A lot of foodbanks rely on matchday collections.

I can't quite put in to words what a fucking joke of a decision this is. Like others have pointed out, a compilation of hundreds of thousands of football fans belting out the national anthem would have been shown around the world.

My brother was taking his kids down to London to watch a WSL game as well tomorrow (they've never been). The cost to customers and businesses... just utterly pointless.

I'm a royalist, but still think all sport should go ahead, in fact I reckon, that is probably, what the Queen would of wanted, especially the racing!

Not sure it's really possible to 'belt out' GSTQ 😉 but I agree.

A rubbish decision. What ****** there are in charge of things in the UK. Fucking useless.

(Leicester needed to be utterly smashed, also)

Didn't realise Leeds-Forest was on Monday night, certainly bizarre that has been called off given the date it's been played.

It is a bit lazy if all fixtures in locations are being lumped in, I certainly disagree with that part of today's decision and really really hope they don't apply it to next weekend aswell otherwise I'll be straight on the Southampton pre match thread complaining to the heavens.

I can’t add much other than to say this is an awful decision. We’re not in the 18th century anymore.

If some people want to mourn the passing of a 96 year old they’ve never met who lived a life of privilege, go ahead, take all the time you need.

But don’t enforce / inflict it on others.

I think the best respect to honour the death would have been to have packed stadiums holding a minutes silence

Feel for those who will have travelled from abroad and long distances in the United Kingdom to watch their team and the loss of money etc

According to the FA, they have made the decision on our behalf as we all wanted matches to be postponed!! I think they live on a different planet.
