It's the right decision.

Would be very disappointed if Southampton at home goes especially if funeral is scheduled for the Monday.

I know it's a friday night but I can't recall previous home matches to Southampton needing endless police presence so we can surely get by with minimal presence and that will go for other non-london fixtures aswell.

Absolute load of old bollocks. Kids (all grassroots) football cancelled as well. So as well as not being able to watch football, kids run around their local parks and clubs kicking a ball. A load of fecking shite

Yup, Im really annoyed about that, the kids can do pretty much whatever they usually would on a Sat, other than play organised football. And that after losing so much time over lockdowns.

Its getting a unanimous kicking on every platform.

My under 10s are training tonight, they need the distraction really, it is somber enough at the moment

This looks increasingly like a poor decision and rather than showing respect it has created an unnecessary fuss and resentment.

It's the right decision.

How and why?

I should've put an "imo" after that comment.

Just feels with the news still being absorbed and reflected it feels right to have weekend to mull over. I'm no royalist but that's what my instinct is.

Certainly shouldn't be cancelling Southampton at home just like that though especially if a funeral is still 48-72 hours away so I'd be very disappointed and suspected all clubs are waiting to see when it's scheduled before making individual calls on whether to play or not.

Southampton should be cancelled. Not the match, just Southampton.

But yet my kids training is on tomorrow it’s just the games (Sunday) that are off. Utter batshit decisions today. If next week goes I’ll be fuming

Exactly. ALITA provided info on two previous monarch deaths and football was played. We are very OTT these days. This decision is akin to fake poppy wearers on TV chasing good PR.

I have to say that's up their with one of the most wrong posts ever on here. If people are genuinely upset and need to "mull over" then nobody is forcing them to go to games if they don't want to. What we've got now is football cancelled, with all the cost and inconvenience to individuals and companies that entails, but you can still go to a rugby match or horse race meeting of your choice. There's nothing right about it, it's an absolute fucking disgrace.
