Arsenal v Aston Villa Pre Match
«

Arsenal v Aston Villa Wednesday 31st 2022
kick off 730pm BT Sport
Discussion and forecasts.
First time doing this hoping to bring good fortune in a challenging match and 2 games in 4 days. (2nd of 3 in 6 days)
Arsenal are the form team, having played four games and winning four.
However, because of our recent performances let's wish for some complacency and with the use of squads, they may rest and rotate some of their players and might not be as fluid as they have been.
2019/20
Nearly three years ago, September, we led twice before losing 3-2 after conceding two goals in the final nine minutes.
But Villa improved against teams like Arsenal, and we beat them 1-0 later that season when we needed it the most. And we defeated them the next two times we faced them the following season.
2020/2021
So, two years ago, in 2020, we went to the Emirates and won 3-0, and we were fantastic. Outplayed them off the park. Wonderful.
2021/22.
We lost badly 3-1 under Dean Smith, with Ramsey coming on after 70 minutes and scoring a screamer. Bailey replaced Tuanzebe at halftime, with the score 2-0.
Our Starting lineup last season with 5 at the back till half time:
Emiliano Martínez
Tyrone Mings
Matt Targett
Axel Tuanzebe
Ezri Konsa
Matty Cash
Emi Buendía
Douglas Luiz
John McGinn
Danny Ings
Ollie Watkins
2022/23
I think the line up on Wednesday we be altered again from West Ham.
I can see Bailey coming in and Ramsey reinstated as well as Buendia. And Mings if fit.
Prediction:
Its imperative to get a result from this and I'm going to say a 0-0 draw more in hope than expectation.
Line up:
Emiliano Martínez
Matty Cash, Callum Chambers, Tyrone Mings Luca Digne
John McGinn Boubar Kamara, Jacob Ramsey
Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins, Emi Buendía

Do we have to? Let's just have a new pre-season with a new staff and resume after the World Cup, mmkay?

Early Arsenal goal. Collapse. Slaughter. And those players have it within themselves to beat Arsenal easily. But when there's a guy on the touchline you don't trust, respect or like... well let's just say the impetus isn't there.

Sigh!!
It could be horrible.
Pack the midfield the only option for me.
Martinez
Cash. Konsa. Chambers. Digne
Kamara. Luiz
Ramsey
Bailey. Beundia
Watkins
Cant bring myself to predict the score.

Only saw us at Arsenal once. O'Leary was our manager and we didn't like him much and he liked us about the same.
Expectations were low and swiftly realised as they battered us 5-0.
"You can have O'Leary back" was the chant that I'll not forget from the Villa fans that day.
This has the makings of a similar kind of night for us.

Defeat. In fact I would take a 1-0 defeat now. Arsenal to win 4-0.

If Gerrard is sacked before the game it would give the players a bounce. Might even scrape a draw. Otherwise a nailed on defeat.

Can't see anything other than a comfortable Arsenal victory. We will start really well for the first five minutes just to give us all hope, quickly followed by...
Just hope they lose interest and it's limited to 2-0.

The sense of inevitability is overwhelming at the moment, given his comments yesterday the Manager isn't going to change tack, the glib "I'm all in" claptrap tells you that. He's thrown the gauntlet down to the players who, on recent evidence would rather pick up a dog turd.
Let's hope for a surprise result, hope seems to be our best bet.
