Steven Gerrard says Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings misses out because of illness - the boss says he had a headache after training yesterday and had a high temperature.

Just been sat in my car and some west ham fans went past and said "it's a shithole round here" 🤣

West Ham will flood the midfield, be more combative than us and will leave with a minimum of a point.  I wish to hell we had Declan Rice in our side!!
And unfortunately, they have 2. Conor Coventry is a midfielder in the same mould.

Narrow diamond. I don't fancy us defending set plays. Could get ugly this.

I hope they prove me wrong but this looks a disasterous line up. I think anyone on this site could have come up with a better line up. Against my better judgement I am staying up til the early hours to watch the game. I think our midfield will be overrun and we will concede minimum three goals.

I despair, I really do. What is he seeing with McGinn that no-one else does?…and  I’m not sure what Buendia has to do to stay in this team, every time he comes on he changes the game. SG can do one, I’ve had enough of him. Today is not going to end well.

No Mings is a blow but happy enough with the rest. Both teams badly need a win so a draw it is. :(

Not a great lineup.

They might be too physical for us.

Up the Villa! Come on Villa, fucking win

Think we would all take the draw right now.

Looks like they have two LBs selected so presume it's Cresswell on the left of a 3 and Emerson further up. Watkins always struggles up against 3 x CBs so might be no harm to have a second striker today.

If you look at our team though, one things stands out for me and that's a complete absence in pace throughout the team. Ramsey can't have any complaints being dropped but he's a better athlete than Luiz. Gerrard giving his mate Coutinho yet another undeserved chance ahead of Buendia and he really needs to start delivering. Going to be goals today, I'll go 2-2 and we finish with a much stronger team than we start with.

McGinn could rock up today with a picnic blanket, sit in the centre circle and consume scotch eggs and Irn Bru for 90 minutes and Gerrard would still pick him next week. Frustrating.

Is there a more pedestrian team in this league
