A shame that the purpose of the game is to get as many minutes into the legs of the starting 11, as at least 3 of those need changing at half time !

Kamara gives it away again, must have lost it more than he’s passed it this half, really not what I was expecting

Let’s sell him.

Watkins' first touch is really a cause for concern

HT. decent game and good opposition to be fair.

I think we have played some good stuff overall. Carlos looks the real deal. Kamara brings presence, Bailey terrifies them with his pace - aside the goal Martinez has been a spectator.

The weak spots not a surprise - Watkins, Luiz, and our crossing (terrible).

Ings on for Watkins 2nd Half.

Getting a decent striker in should be top of Gerard’s to-do list.

He's on the bench.

It is nice to see 65 year old Steve Mandanda in goal for Rennes, didn't realise he was still playing.

Non existent marking from that corner just before half time.

True. Is he ready to be relied on for a whole season yet? Because Watkins sure isn’t.

Not overly impressive tbh, difficult to pick anyone out as having a good half.

Got back in the game fairly quickly after conceding and looked a bit better after the water break. Still not good enough in possession all over the pitch and give it away in dangerous areas at the back.

We most definitely miss Mings in this respect.

Watkins' first touch is really a cause for concern

His first touch has always been below average. I’m more worried that he hasn’t learned to beat a defender off of the dribble from a stop, and his awareness seems a little off today.

He might be more valuable out wide, but what is one thing Ollie has that Bailey doesn’t?

First pre season game I've seen and it's all a bit underwhelming for me.

Defence looks especially shaky. I'd like to see Buendia but that's not going to happen. At least Bailey looks quite lively.

Easy. He’s the same age as me. And tbf he plays in the only football position I could still do 90 mins in. 😊
