I always read the thread title to the tune of Twisting by the Pool by Dire Straits.

'Blinded by the Light' for me (Manfred Mann's version).

I say it regularly but it's strange to think that when me and the late lamented Mac first went in the Barton's there were less than a dozen post-match drinkers.

Just as 'El Floridita' was a lot quieter before Hemingway started drinking there, despite their rather fine daiquiris. :)

I thought Hemingway invented the daiquiris.

I'm not sure if that's a song reference or an invitation. ;)

It’s one that Bob Dylan didn’t sing at Wembley, BV.

There were many more options back then I think. The first time we went there was for a H+V post match meet upstairs.

I'm still having nightmares.

Anyone drink in Shanahans and what's it like?

The Albion Vaults is OK for a matchday if you fancy a brisk 30 minute walk to the ground.

Shanahans is decent. They've put a rooftop bar in there which is pretty good when the weather's nice.

I’ve been going to Villa Park since the mid 70s and have never been to the Bartons
I really should get round to paying a visit sometime
the beer is so so, the service can be awful but the Thai food is great.

The beer is normally decent in my view although you can always do better in the Black Country.

They serve anything in any glass when busy, some may say understandable but i cant get on with it.

The service is dreadful.

But I do enjoy it there and the food is amazing
