Is he injured at the moment? I thought he might have featured up at Fleetwood last week or is he part of another squad?

Yes, you are quite correct. I'm still irritated by certain people's wilful disregard for the international player topic that was started for conversation!

When I tried to explain, I read that no one was interested! That hurts! Particularly since all I like to do is improve how things are discussed on the site by making it simple to use and recommend discussions are in the appropriate sections.

Although I don't need to add anything extra to Wilson's thread to this from here on in I do have strong feelings regarding Gerrard signing him. Also this Wilson is a reminding symbol of Gerrard and it was grossly unfair that Deano was replaced for that guy, and I truly loved Deano so I'm bias and I disliked SG. I loved Emery is in place now! I thank you for your recommendation to see the viewpoint of I don't enjoy the posts I read and will do that suggestions PWS.
My issue remains Gerrard and seeing Wilson is reminding me of him and Purslow colluding.

Sorry!

I'd say discussing Rory Wilson in the 'Rory Wilson' thread is very appropriate.

I doubt he's going to sign a new contract. He might have potential, but he's also got a long long way to go before he plays senior football at a high level.

He'll go somewhere where they have history of bringing through young players, probably the likes of Dortmund, Leverkusen. He could do that here, but I think it's unlikely now.

I suspected this guy was signed as part of Stevie G deal and to make some extra money.
Also there were several here who suspected Wilson wouldn't sign a new contract.

The news now coming from Glasgow based Scottish paper Daily Record says ' Rory Wilson 'set to' end Aston Villa nightmare as Rangers made to sweat over mega profit'
Sounds very ITK as also reported by The Athletic

He's provided a link, what are you struggling with? As is usually the case with Record/Mirror/Birmingham Mail etc, it's basically just a rehash of what has been printed elsewhere, but they've given it a "Rangers" slant. If Villa lose money, "Rangers" lose money, too.

Every cloud.

That signing him was nothing to do with the deal to make Gerrard manager, obviously.

Good prospect, but I'm 100% behind the club sticking to its academy wage structure.  By all means give him a contract that includes a nice bump in wages when he's had a dozen first-team appearances, but £20k+ a week while still in the academy? I don't think so.

It's also not like he's 'the one' either, we have a lad only 2 years older who's miles ahead.

According to the Athletic, other clubs are prepared to pay that. Fair enough if we're sticking to a set structure but if there are others prepared to pay substantially more, you also can't blame the player for considering his options. It's not like he's had many first team opportunities, apparently he's rarely trained with the first team squad so Emery obviouslsy thinks he has a long way to go.

The worst that happens is he becomes Brian McClair.

Brian McClair would probably fetch forty million, now.

I mean, not now, obviously. I'm aware he's probably in his sixties, before someone (BV) points that out. 🙂

His beard would.

Any road up, Wilson isn't good enough to be of immediate first team use. He might go on to have a top career, or he might become a difficult quiz question like record signing Scott Murray. Right now he has to do what he thinks is best for him.

But if he turns up in a mercenary squad that pips us to 2037 title, he must pay a heavy price.
