Good to see him get a chance tonight, but I don't understand his role?

Needs a full season in the Championship, like most young players do, to develop.

Honestly can't see any CL Premier League club coming in for him.

Same for me.  Looks lost I think.  Get the impression he's had his head turned by people badly advising him.

To be fair Carney is a nipper with little experience. But he seems to be ambling around like a Year 8 kid at the Middle school disco.

I get the feeling (completely unsubstantiated, obvs) that this is exactly why SG has started him today. You think you’re too good fo sign a new contract?

To be fair, I feel he would be best served by replacing one of Luiz or McGinn, not playing alongside them.

I haven't,  just in this game though

Well subbing him off in the first half in a nothing game for us wouldn't do a huge amount for his confidence and development would it?
