So many memories.
The one that always sends a tingle down my spine was when he returned to Villa Park with Oldham.
It seemed like, and in all probability was, the whole ground singing Andy Lochhead in the air.

In the early 1980s I was at a sporting dinner in London The guest speaker was John McGrath ,former southampton centre half and a real hard man. I asked him who was the hardest centre forward he had played against. He did not know I was a Villa supporter so had no reason to give me an answer just to please me .Without any hesitation he said" Andy Lockhead." SO LONG BIG MAN. A TRUE VILLA HERO.

RIP

His was the first song I remember hearing at Villa Park as a kid on the Witton End. Towering headers and an “uncompromising” style made him a true hero to me.

So sad to hear about Andy, one of my early Villa heroes, such a big part of the Villa fight back following years in the doldrums, hard as nails, uncompromising and a superb header of a football.
RIP Big Fella

This.

He terrorised defences, whether it be ManUtd with all their stars, or Oldham in the 3rd Division. Whatever we paid for him we should have paid more.
Wonderful memories.
