We haven't beaten them at home since Carlton Cole's debut?

About time that changed.

1-0 Villa. Ramsey

We're due a game against these where every shot we take, regardless of where it was taken, flies into the top corner.

0-2.

He was unplayable that day. I thought we had gotten ourselves a bit of a beast. Dont think he then scored again until the return game against Southampton, which was pretty much the last few weeks of the season.

Pedant alert.  He scored in the next home game v Newcastle and then not again until Southampton away in April.  In fact, the next person to score in their first two home games for the club was Coutinho.

He chested it in if I remember correctly. That season I think I managed to go to every home game, and that Newcastle match was my favourite of the lot.

Surely Sanson for Luis,
Ings on the bench
Bailey wide left

At least Shane Long scored his first goal in a decade last week so he can leave his bogey team alone for once.

By wide left I hope you mean somewhere on Spaghetti Junction.

Bailey is way off it at the moment, so no thanks.

My first game at Villa Park in a few years, defeat at home to Stoke in the last days of Sherwood's reign being the last one. Really looking forward to it.

Was that 0-1 in October '15? Was one of my last VP games for a couple of years too (til the 4-1 win over Wolves).

Yes, think so. It was horrific. Micah Richards was playing at CB next to some fairly random Spanish dude that I'm not sure played for us again. Richards defensive positioning was laughable all game, he nearly scored at the end after it all.

It's not even the worst game I've seen at Villa Park, I was there for an utter snooze fest 0-0 in the last days of DOL's reign v Fulham. Notable only for the bedsheet protest from the Holte End.

Watch out for a saints player going down half way through the second half so the manager can get his team to get a drink and instructions. Apparently a regular occurrence.
