Oh well that's an exciting change then. I'll look forward to not bothering to watch that.

37 points after 32 games considering our budget and players is embarrassing let's be honest. But we will have enough to survive. It has been a rotten season, starting with a shambolic pre season and ending with a whimper. Even Smith finished last season with some good results against the likes of Spurs and Chelsea that promised a bright future.

Oh, and there's absolutely no way we're going down. None.

Yes but it’s harrowing that with half a dozen games to go we are even talking about it after spending the money we have spent.

And now over to our Villa correspondent Aftab who's with the Mariupol Lions for the run-in. ;)
I have heard the foundry at Mariupol is still hot keeping the “Lions” warm whereas hell will freeze over at VP on Saturday.

The reason we have this thread is that we gave Watford over 25% of the points they have this season. We really should be sat on 46 points then the whole discussion would be different. Norwich were awful, but Watford ran them close.

Can't believe we're still 9 points off Wolves. Utterly clueless losing not just at home but the away game to them recently.

End of the day stick Grealish back in this team and we'd be over 50 points now and actually be in serious contention for europa so just shows you how important he was for us and perhaps we're not as far away as people think IF we can just find that match winner from somewhere over next 12 months.

Everton just beat Chelsea 1-0. Really good defensive display. I've got a feeling you'll probably need the 40 points this year to stay up. Normally 37 points and you're ok. Leeds look in danger now. We probably need another 2 or 3 points to be absolutely safe.

I never make Villa predictions in earnest, but if we're not safe then neither are Brentford or Southampton, particularly the latter, who we have two games in hand on and who play Liverpool and Leicester. Plus those two sides meet next anyway.

If you want to be definite, I'd say any random point will do it for us.

Looking at the fixtures Burnley, Everton and Leeds have left, i don’t think any of them will reach the fabled 40 points, that is literally never needed anymore. Unless of course Burnley beat us twice which is conceivable I suppose.
Evertons win has put the cat amongst the pigeons though, id say they have a slightly easier run in, with my Villa bias on for Burnleys run in. If i had to pick one, i’d say Leeds look more likely, as well as Chelsea and Arsenal they have to play a bang in form Brighton and tricky away game at Brentford.
I think we’re fine, although lose to Burnley on Saturday and i’ll get slightly twitchy again.

I can see Southampton getting no more points this season - their recent form is even worth than ours. They're probably safe because Leeds - who have the hardest run-in - would need 7 pts from 4 games given their terrible goal difference. Still, with Saints at 80-1 for relegation, might be worth a punt?

Southampton are a team who could just as easily win 4-0 as lose 4-0. Brentford and Liverpool will probably beat them but Leicester will roll over, especially if they reach their European final.
