Good to push ourselves two additional point further away from the drop zone.  Hopefully looking up now instead of over our shoulder.

How anyone is not worried sick after collecting 1 point against absolutely dreadful opposition in the last three fixtures is baffling. We scraped a win against a very poor Everton side and a Draw against the worst Manchester United outfit we have seen for a very long time.

The players look lost, the Head Coach is slumped back on his chair and the Board did not address the positions we were crying out for in the January window

Instead we loaned out some very good and reliable players and brought in Stevens mate from Barcelona . The bench looks extremely weak and we leant a direct opponent our Left Back , absolute insanity and extremely poor management from top to bottom.

How are you feeling now mate? Steven's mate from Barcelona seems to be doing quite well, no?

He's a Yabba Dabba doom monger!  I haven't checked if that's already been done, apologies if it has.

Not so worried after two good performances - long may it last.

I like Gerrard, but was getting concerned that we were in a rut, playing badly and losing a lot. Pleased to see him change things up tactically and even more pleased that it seems to have worked. Ings and Watkins looked like a decent partnership against Southampton, and though it is harsh on Buendia the whole team looks better with Coutinho alone rather than the pair of them. Defence looking better with the fullbacks sitting a little deeper, and even the hapless Luiz looked great this weekend!

Roll on signing the mythical DM (or Nakamba returning) as think we will start to look much better then.

We are still only 12 points clear of trouble.

There's as much chance of Burnely making up those 12 points on us as there is of us making up the 12 points needed to finish above the team in the current European places.

Even with the recent bad results, our points per game ratio under Gerrard so far is 1.53, which in most seasons would get you to 7th or 8th.

If anyone's genuinely worried you can get 500/1 on us going down with Paddy Power. I'll be keeping my money in my pocket

The question now, in my humble opinion, is whether we should be aiming to improve on that over the last 12 games. Tall order but with Coutinho, Digne and Chambers added, along with a fit Bailey at his disposal.....

Signs are good for next season if we keep it up, or improve. Likely we will improve too as he adjusts the squad and has a proper pre-season with no fannying around in a park watching Grealish take the piss.

Clearly a big upgrade on Smith anyway.

I'm sure he'll be looking to improve on the points tally as much as possible. The finishing position is out of his hands mostly though, as obviously he's hamstrung by the points total he inherited.

I think if we can get 51 points, and hopefully 9/10th that would be a good way to end the season - well poised to push on, and hopefully with a bit of momentum.

I would be very happy with that given we have had two longish runs of poor form this season.
