Gerrard doesn't fool me with his sub standard approach in ability to communicate and that his attempts at motivating and being honest in players is lost on players in todays age. Guys clueless with one way and one way only.  Rolling out his grit and best versions of ourselves is inspiring no one.

Hodgson has set up the side to restrict our shooting from fucking miles out. God this has been dull.

Yep. This is classic Hodgson away from home performance and I'm not surprised it's been a bit of a stinker. In Coutinho and Buendia we've got the ability to find the one key chance that we need to win this game - just need the 3 points however we get them today.

It's been dull cause they've made it so - I don't think there's any alarm bells other than that one dangerous break.

Not sure how SJM effort is seen as worse than Luiz absence

Ings playing well

Agreed, his sureness of touch is in marked contrast to Watkins. We are running out of ideas a bit in the middle. Watford very content to let our full backs have the ball.

10 shots to their 3, 55% possession, Emi snuffed their best opportunity and all of their corners have been easily handled.

Everyone relax. Slagging off the manager and the midfield is just getting ridiculous.

We are clearly the better team, clearly.

All just very boring, we're knocking the ball around at a very pedestrian pace.

Feels like teams have already sussed out Gerrard's style which isn't great.

A bit shit in the main. We lack both pace and physicality and the reason we look so good in that 20 minute spell vs Leeds is because Ramsay was running in behind. We're mostly trying to play in front of teams and it's too easy to defend.

Careful Keeno you are in danger of speaking too much common sense for here!

Sometimes I think the match thread should be sponsored by the Samaritans.

At least we haven't conceded. That would have given us an almighty problem.

Gerrard a dullard. All this talk the talk. I've noted and suggested  in my write up his shades of Benítez and Bruce with his pragmatics fused into his obsessions with the full backs offering the creativity in his Liverpool style wish. He calls it Villa identity I'm sorry don't identity with that . Continous disappointment of 10 shots nothing on target. aI always have said and the stats back up we have no shots on target yet again in half of football and lack proper goal threat and quality. There's some determination and some robust challenges which SG demands as demonstrates commitment but the players aren't really mixing it right and there's a change or two in the offing.
Doesn't surprise me this being 0-0 the Roy Hodgson knowing exactly what to expect.

Leon Bailey is the sort of free flowing football with some uptempo who could provide a spark.
