I was so unimpressed when we signed him, an ordinary winger for Chelsea. And then converted to full back, effectively replacing Gidman.

Thank goodness Saunders saw what I couldn’t. Not the first time I’ve been wrong, and certainly not the last.

Whenever anybody mentions someone being a "Rolls Royce" of a player, he always springs to my mind. A languid easiness to his play not seen matched in his position in claret & blue since.
