JJ Kenny is championship level at best. Wouldn't mind Buendia trying to target him early on.

Cam Archer not in the squad?

Guess that's down to the switch to put Ings on the bench. While Ings has proven himself to be deadly elsewhere, he hasn't at Villa. It would be a shame for Cam not to get opportunities, but that kind of competition for places will make us stronger as a whole. As they say in American prisons 'game ain't based on sympathy' (picked up from a Louis Theroux docu, but seems apt).

Just hope we can stop them scoring early on, especially with the crowd behind them. Glad McGinn's back. Come on Villa!

Yes, could have done without Benitez leaving and Richarlison and DCL back. An early goal for us and they might fold if the crowd get on their back, otherwise it could be an attritional game.

Most importantly we need to stop conceding. We haven’t had a clean sheet for a while.

It's all in the mind this pre-game prediction bollocks: I expect to see Villa players running down the touchline cupping their ears on at least four occasions.

Have any team wasted quite as much money as Everton in recent years?

Us.
First thing that came to my mind too .

And me

Hopefully the 12.30 kick-off will work in our favour as the crowd won't be as raucous as they would be for a 5.30 or even a 3pm start.

Well, I think that's probably our strongest possible first-11, even when everyone is fit, and it's a front three we've all been crying out for. Time for them to deliver!

Good solid start.  Doesn't sound quite like the caldron that was predicted...
