Well done Robin - best way to respond to the boo boys is to shove it back down their throats

Steady on.

He's getting valid credit for having a decent game, not getting the golden glove award...

Though I broadly agree I do notice this use of the word 'decent' sometimes obscures things unfairly. He had a fantastic game.

I wouldn't read too much into it mate...

Not with yourself I'm sure, fair enough. Just worth clarifying that it was a top performance.

Agreed.

I think I was one of the first to comment about it on here, as the praise was warranted after I have previously made quite a few negative comments about his past performances & his value to Villa in my eyes.

That doesn't change overall in my opinion, based on one game, just as my positive view on Douglas Luiz hasn't changed due to his recent poor form.

But it could change with either, depending on the evidence & context over a period of time.

But agreed, he was excellent yesterday.

Thought he played really well yesterday. That save with his leg when thingy was clear through would have been wanked over if it was Martinez.

More of this please, Robin!

Before the penalty on Thursday the commentators said that he'd faced 25 penalties in his career and saved none, so today was the first time he actually stopped one. Must have been awful to see it end up in the net anyway.

He's no Emi but, according to Transfermarkt, he had saved three and conceded 31 prior to Brighton.

Well have to hand it to Olsen he's second choice.
An injury or suspension away from playing
Emery has kept with experience and Gauci amount others loaned out then Olsen is the backup.
On Gauci it's concerning he's got to league one level for experience.

Making the point of goalkeeper situation .
Wondering what moves will be made in the summer in this position and feel Olsen is a significant part of the squad who helps out in training.

On Gauci it's concerning he's got to league one level for experience.

It’s not concerning at all. In fact it’s quite common for young players to be sent on loan down a division or two?

Clean sheet for Gauci on his debut.

To play first team football, as a goalkeeper.

The long athletic article found on transfer thread included this:

"Goalkeeper Robin Olsen had interest from Copenhagen, who were keen to bring him back after his first spell between 2016 and 2018. Villa, however, made it clear they would not countenance his departure"
