Too many false dawns I'm afraid. SVC, Ginola, Carbone, Warren Aspinall...
  I loved carbone here

His debut against Wimbledon was sensational and I will never forget his hat-trick against a high-flying Leeds in the FA Cup.

One of my top 10 highlights as a Villa fan.

Got good memories of Carbone.

I loved Carbone, the big sulky weirdo. You need characters in the game.

He looks, like Joe, that he needs to be somewhere where he's 'the man', will play every week and be the focal point of the team. That's not going to happen if he joins another of the Champs League/Arsehole clubs.

He's prepared to take a step down to play regularly for someone he trusts, I think that shows maturity and him putting actually putting his player career ahead of endorsements and status, which I think bodes well.

We’ve wanted a “marquee signing” for years and now we’ve got one - wow !

Fair enough re Carbonne, probably a bad example. He did only play 24 times and score 4 goals so hardly shifted the dial on the club's status.

I was the same when Jordan Bowery made his debut.

I’ll never forget the anticipation in the away end at Craven Cottage as Djemba Djemba made his debut. Including some fella in a Man United shirt with his name on the back.

A signing of convenience so Fashanu could be close to Brum for filming Gladiators for Central.
