I used feel the same, then I thought that boxing can never be morally justified in any circumstance. Paying to watch men hurt each other is highly questionable and my only defence is that they choose to do it. That being the case, women should have the same opportunity.

Agree with that Dave.  Have absolutely no qualms about women having the opportunity to be involved in combat sports, I guess it's more an internal wrestle of whether I can enjoy it.

I've always felt empathy for any boxer who loses a fight really, as not only have they got to deal with the anguish of defeat, but also the physical damage that has been inflicted on them.

Yeah I used to be the same, but the standard of women's boxing has greatly improved over the years, also I've noticed generally, if one of the women is taking a beating, the ref will stop a fight much earlier than they would for a man's fight.

Really looking forward to the Marshall fight, reckon she is a credit to the sport, really hoping she beats Shields.

Women's boxing has vastly improved. Some of the early bouts were embarrassing; fighters had no idea of how to box and sometimes looked close to tears. As with football, the more women involved, the better it has become.

Disagree with the decision, thought Mayer won it.

Thing I’ve noticed when watching some of the highlights of Savannah Marshall is that she is quite a bit taller than her opponents and seems to use that advantage well.  Hopefully will be the case tonight.

Explosive start.  Think it could be argued it’s 2-1 Shields after 3, but could easily be 3-0 as well.

Shields seems to be different class. This surely won't last the distance.

Right decision, but what a fight, superb stuff, credit to both women.

i had it 97-93, and one of those was probably a sympathy round. It was too one-sided to be a classic but it's shown how good womens boxing has become.

Yeah, think four rounds was about right Dave.  Savannah Marshall was brave, game and gave it a right go, but Shields just looked the more accomplished boxer and it told on the night.

Credit to both though.

Deontay Wilder's back.

And meanwhile, in a fight that the whole world wasn't begging to see, Fury is going to fight Chisora. Again.

Believe that one when you see it.
