The logic to me if the teams want a winter break would be to play Boxing Day - 29th - NYD (which is a typical Sunday - Wednesday - Saturday arrangement, no different to playing in Europe), then have the FA Cup 3rd Round first weekend in Jan, followed by a winter break. Maintains the traditions in this country but adds in a break after a number of games in short succession.

It's changes for TV that leads to teams playing twice in 48 hours, rather than anything with the schedule to begin with.

Probably logical to put the Burnley home game on 4th round weekend now, more logical than sticking it midweek.

Yep, the one "good" thing about being knocked out of the cup is that so too were the teams with whom we've had recent league games postponed - Leeds and Burnley.

No need to make them midweek games, they can be Saturday afternoon matches on FA Cup 4th/5th/6th round day etc. Or maybe that's just too sensible.
