FFS make it mandatory for players to get vaccinated and then play the game regardless of positive tests. Premier League need to sort this out.

100% this. I heard yesterday that 25% of premier league players haven't been vaccinated. I know some players are a bit thick but that's ridiculous.
100% vaccination wouldn't prevent this. Vaccination doesn't stop positive tests. Now most people have been vaccinated so have at least some protection so aren't badly affected. No reason to cancel the football.

Vaccination greatly reduces the chances of catching it therefore makes complete sense to me. Not being vaccinated is certainly not going to help with stopping the spread of the virus.
he has been banging this drum all week, that Vaccines don’t stop infections , sad.

It's disappointing that it has been left so late. People travel from all over the country to support Villa (and other clubs). Why wasn't this done yesterday? The Burnley fans won't be happy. The club should re-imburse fans (including the Burnley fans) travelling long distances. They won't be so lax again.
Tbf the clubs have done all they can, but the premier league !?
not getting test results back a few hours before kick off, Is doing all they can?

Maybe following premier league protocols.
As soon as there was ny doubt it should be down to premier league .  Every club has had numerous + tests. Premier league shouldve called the whole weekend of yesterday lunch time at the latest .

Games don’t get postponed when clubs have injuries.

Over 1200 miles travelled this week to see only 2 Villa games. Today really has been a shambles by the club.

which protocol?
The time it took to make the decision is based on when the club received the test results, see club announcement

BBC report indicates they had to wait for the Premier League to review and agree to the postponement.  So the late notice may not entirely be down to the club.

It makes a nice headline, but it actually means that footballers are more likely to be vaccinated than the general public. So maybe they should be the ones pulling their finger out?

Why, if before yesterday when tests were taken, it was clear there was already previous positive tests at the club, were players still allowed to mix and pass it on to more players - that’s poor.

It's diabolical really. Whether its a delay from the club or getting a response from PL to postpone you should  have a longer window to warn people against travelling. If that's not possible because of the time needed for tests then a club that already has confirmed cases should postpone 24 hours before.

Does that mean that Chelsea will be off because our players will be isolating?
I’d be amazed if the Chelsea game is on.

Villa wouldn't want any disadvantage against Chelsea with players missing?

I don't believe in compulsory vaccination, but if a quarter of players haven't had it, when their job is to be fit and healthy, fucking hell.

I only live 10 mins away and I’m pissed off at the late notice. Sensible solution was to postpone yesterday

Surely, with Covid only going to get worse the Premier League will have to suspend the season until this variant peaks?

It would be reckless in the extreme to continue.
