But if a player traps a ball under his boot, and has it 'under control' you aren't allowed to kick it away?

Ok keepers are special cases, and by the rules.... however it's hard to take.

Schmeichel made a miraculous recovery from his broken hand.

Apparently it was the correct decision as the keeper just needs to hold the ball against the ground with one hand to be deemed in control of it.

What a shit rule that is.

I don't understand that, thought it was supposed to be two hands on the ball?

Nope, changed a while back.

Alright.

Even so he's just flung his hand towards the ball so not like Ramsey kicked it our of his secure grasp at all imo.

I know it's shit, but the co-commentator said 'it's one of those that's open to interpretation', but it's not, and I'm assuming that that was the reason for the law change, to remove any ambiguity.

Except after a save or rebound, then this doesn't apply

Shit decision
Concentrate on the game too many loose passes
Luis needs to wake up, keep the pressure on like the last 10 mins and we could win this

We are second best in midfield. Giving the ball away way too much. Luiz needs to wake up he wants to dwell on the ball like it is a testimonial. Barnes is causing us all sorts of problems.

Yep pretty much. Doug has been half asleep most of the time and easily our worst CM. Would put Sanson on if he dosen't improve.

Not sure what we can do on the right. Perhaps put AEG on as he's reliable to track back but he dosen't influence game much from attacking perspective out on the right.

The problem is the idiots that are reviewing it are watching it in ultra, super-slow motion. You can see ANYTHING you want at the rate.

Watch it in full speed. If that is “control” than I’ve had great control of my emotions throughout this discussion.

FWIW, Tim Howard said it should’ve been a goal.

So what we're basically saying now is the next time villa are in the lead, force the opposition to shoot from distance so martinez catches it and then tell him to lay on the floor with one hand on it until the games over because there is nothing anyone can do to touch him? Ridiculous

Will always support the ref if they are unsure of summat in real time and double check if the option is there.

Should be what the technology is for.

But to give the goal - only to chalk it off after video confirms the keeper has had a 'mare, well.  That's just another level of special.

Is this the same twat who chalked off our injury time penalty at home to Brighton last year?

That was similar, in the sense that his initial response was right. But then he checks the monitor -sees there is contact for certain - and chalks it off.  ::) ::) ::)

Hopefully Gerrard gives us a bit of a rocket as they could be well ahead. Not a great first half and they looked very threatening. Stupid decision by VAR though, absolutely nonsense. Nearly as bad as the shitty stream I’m following.
