The whole Joe thing is such a cock-up on so many levels. Since Man City's takeover they specifically started buying our players which took us from a top 4 challenging club to eventual relegation. They were third division 20 years ago FFS. He has gone to Manchester's second club.

The official tweet actually borders on being unprofessional.

Oh my god that’s hideous.
Or, it's the club 'owning' JG's success rather than pretending he never played for us and allowing Citeh to claim all the glory ...
as someone else said, he gave us 20 years of his playing life.
A different view?

I hope he gets booked for simulation then dismissed for dissent.

I hope he gets a Nakamba special launching into the advertising hoardings, then does a Lee Chapman v Spurs tribute using his face as a brake.

Its a huge error of judgement.  Undermines all the talk of us joining them, and was completely unneeded

I imagine some bright spark released that we get more social likes when we mention him

The Grealish saga is now overshadowing the match itself.
As will the Gerrard saga when we play on the 11th.
It's an inevitable media thing.

... and then one of those Extinction Rebellion pricks vaults the advertising hoardings and glues his face to the floor.

It's not the same thing though really. The media will be all over it, but we're now pleased he's our manager, and the Liverpool fans will be pleased to see him. With Greasy, the majority of Villa fans certainly won't be pleased to see him.  Hopefully the Liverpool fans' delight will only last 90 minutes though.

Once again, joe_c wins the entire internet for his response of "Now do Scott Carson". Excellent stuff indeed.

It's the same in that the media will overshadow all else in the build-up, and the match reports will milk the individual's connection to each club ...
... not that it bothers me.

Genius marketing ploy by the club to get things a bit spicy and get Flinstone's tickets sold I reckon.

We're going to be the bad guys again aren't we? Then in a a few days, the narrative will be all about how much love there is for Steven Gerrard at Anfield, and Villa fans should take note blah blah blah

I very much hope so. Looking forward to them whining at his reception.
