Aston Villa v Brighton pre-match thread - Sat 20 Nov 3pm
« on: November 15, 2021, 12:09:20 PM »
So, a new beginning then.

Not much time for Gerrard to work with the squad. Brighton have had a good start to the season, but haven’t won in 7, and their recent results have been a mixed bag. Decent battling draws with Liverpool and Leicester, but also disappointing draws with Norwich and Newcastle.

I’m going to go for a straightforward 2-0 home win, to get Villa Park bouncing again and Gerard’s reign off to a good start.

Depends who is fit. I think we'll have a flurry of substitutions on to about the hour mark through tiredness.

Also a surprise in the lineup.

Heart win, head loss. So a Draw.

Up until last week, Brighton would have pretty much known how we would line up and play and could make plans for it. Now we will be a surprise.

Likewise, Gerrard and co have had the best part of a week to analyse Brighton and devise a plan for them. I also fully expect them to have also analysed our players via video and have an idea who could fit in with their ideas. The key is going to be how much they can get across in training this week.

Home win based on new manager bounceability. 2-1 Bailey, Mcginn, Sanson o.g.

1-1.

McGinn with a headed goal and then a slip on the ball to let one of their forwards in to get the draw

I imagine the pitch at Bodymoor to be like the scene in Tetminator 2 when the ground freezes and the the T1000's legs just break off.

I'm looking forward to seeing Steven Gerrard's first game in charge I think we will win 2-1.

Will be interesting to see how Gerrard attempts to solve the Ings/Watkins quandary starting with next Saturday. Let's hope a lot of the injury problems have cleared up.

Tough game Saturday. I think Brighton are unbeaten in the league away from home. The Villa team will need to be up for the contest. UTV!
