I hate to say it but the total lack of potential candidates makes the sacking of Smith look premature and foolish to me. Half the names mentioned I don't believe would take us to the next level and the few who might arguably might not consider us or be available, so, what was the point? We cannot swap Smith for Gerrard, that's insanity.

Let’s face it, if Martinez can’t win anything with the squad he’s got managing Belgium, what chance would we have with him managing our squad?

I’ve said all along that if we replaced DS then the new manager has to be a few levels up. As such, none of the mentioned does it for me so may as well have stuck with Dean.

Its kind of how I'm feeling.
I'm backing whoever comes in of course but I don't see there being much difference with most of the names mentioned.

Coming to the conclusion either Paulo Fonseca or Lucien Favre but I don't know a lot about either!

Potter for me. Plays good football - we'd score a lot of goals with Ings or Watkins up front in his side.

I don't want Gerrard, purely because the link to him eventually managing Liverpool will never go away.

You say that but Maupay is not exactly prolific for them.
I think there's a decent coach there but I think we could do better.

Totally agree with this. There’s no upside. He either does crap, or he does well and is packed off to Anfield.

Surely the upside would be we've done well and he'd leave us in a better position to attract another quality manager.....

Ings and Watkins are better than Maupay

If it is $tevie Me and he leaves us for Liverpool, then he will leave us as a top 6 club again.

"Stevie G's claret and blue stepping stone" has a certain ring to it, not.
