He gave us our self esteem and pride back, think that's the best summing up for me.

Can't wait until the Norwich game around April to give him a well deserved clap when he walks out of the tunnel (hopefully we're well clear of them and bottom 3 by then though!)

I agree with SoccerHQ and I wish Deano the best of luck at Norwich.
Fantastic impact on our players, the club, the supporters and the promotion, to boot.
I think they have an absolute diamond.

He was hired to get us up, which he did at the first time of asking. He then kept us up the following season. He then took us to mid-table. He was then sacked 11 games into the season so we don't know if he would've improved us to finish higher than 11th. I think it was probably the right time to say goodbye, but he certainly didn't fail.

Two Birmingham fans wishing him all the best on WM, two Birmingham fans who know about football

Contrast the the chump last night from about 48 minutes who was mercifully cut off fairly quickly

Dean hasn’t failed in any job so far.

That's why I put the word in quotations because from the outside looking in he was sacked. Lampard didn't fail either. Howe was the most successful manager in Bournemouth's history by some distance but people on here could only talk about his relegation when he was suggested for the Villa job so he "failed"? Just the way it is.

He got  us our respect back, got us promoted,  understood the club, understood the fans. I think he would have turned it around eventually but its not to be. I feel a bit like I did when Big Ron was sacked although Dean's league record over his last full year was better than Ron's. Obviously Brian Little came in and did a great job. How Gerrard will do is anyone's guess but certainly I have to lose this prejudice of cheering on a guy who fairly often screwed us over as a player. But I had the.same issue with John Terry and was proved wrong so no doubt I will be wrong again. I hope.

He addressed this in the press conference and, with a smile, apologised to Villa fans for all the goals he scored against us.

Will be there be any subtle digs at the Villa in his Norwich unveiling presser? "Yeah, no...."

Have to say Norwich have put some really impressive behind-the-scenes output on their social media channels of Dean's first day, while we stuck our new head coach's first press conference behind a paywall.  I know we put videos out of the first training session and the one to one chat with Michelle Owen, and perhaps Gerrard wouldn't have wanted a camera following him around for the day, but we've still got to improve our media stuff

That Norwich video in summary
"Hi, how you doing?"
"Good thanks, you?"
"Yeah, good thanks"
"Good"
"Ahhhh"
Nods head awkwardly as conversation dries up, looks around and sips from water bottle.
