Lifted from Twitter, by one of our old posters and writers. It's a gem.

If I could have put into words how I was feeling on slumping into bed gone 2am after a long and pensive journey back from Southampton last night, this would have been it. Not angry, not frustrated, nothing like that. Just this.

Sums up the way most of us are feeling, the dream can be revived but the owners have to maintain their desire, if they appointed someone like Dyche then the dream is dead, to keep us dreaming we need a statement of intent manager.

Very good, thanks for sharing. Since the collapse against Wolves it’s just devastating seeing us fall apart as soon as the ball is kicked. Smith must feeling this as much as us.

It’s absolutely gutting.

Said this on another thread but if it is the end, I’m really very sad about that but not half as sad and destroyed Dean Smith will be about it. When Grealish left the 3 year era ended and as the post infers, it’s probably time to start afresh and kick start the project again. I really don’t want a 2-0 down after 35 mins scenario against Brighton and the crowd to turn on Dean. I really thought feeling like this was over.

Excellent summary. Said for a while it’s our hearts ruling our heads.

It is Vinny and that is a great article.

I am sure even  those who are calling for Dean's head would much rather he succeed, but unfortunately life's not that fair. You look at the the Managers before who we really wanted to stay for ever; Ron Saunders, Tony Barton, Graham Taylor, Ron Atkinson, Brian Little. Changes happen whether we want them to or not.

Beautiful piece of writing.
No 'side' to it, just written from the heart of one Villa fan to caring Villa fans everywhere.

If Dean is replaced you would have to be heartless not to understand that his lifetime dream would be over, no-one could accuse him of not giving his all for his club. If he is to be in charge for the Brighton game I hope the crowd are supportive all through the game no matter the score. No matter whether we think change is needed or not lets give him and the players every chance.

The Little comparison is a good one. Really didn't want him gone despite the poor season we were having and I was still prone to "what if" thoughts years afterwards, even when his own career was one of ever diminishing returns.

Edit- it was Dave who made the Little comparison, echoed by JD  (amongst other managers)

I'll be sad for Dean and gutted that a true Villa fan couldn't get us back to where we belong but he lived  the reality that the rest of us can only dream of and will get a few bob in his back packet to boot. It's time for new blood asap as we cannot afford to go down again, other clubs are acting and if we do nothing it's criminal.
