Chelsea away-Sean Lock
« on: August 23, 2021, 11:55:26 AM »
Many apologies if this has been posted elsewhere (please delete if it has)but I read something on twitter that Chelsea are planning a minutes applause for Sean Lock when we play them.
A quick Google search only brought up a story in The S** and I'm not going to click on that,  much less post a link to it.
If anyone has more information then please share so those who are going know what's happening and when.

I'd imagine that if they do, there will be a picture of him on the screen so just join in when everyone else claps. It is their first home game since his passing so sounds feasible that they might do that.

Seems a bit odd to me. What's the football link? Other than being a fan.

He was quite a big fan apparently, not just going to Stamford Bridge, but even travelling to European away games with the 'normal' fans on occasion.  I only know this from a mate who was on the same flight as him once heading to a game.

I've got no problem with this.  He was a prominent fan and an all round good egg, if I was going I'd be happy to clap.  I'm sure they'll join in for Nigel Kennedy when the time comes.

Presumably he was there in the days of shitty perimeter barbed-wire, crap sightlines and hoping for the best from Gavin Peacock (did score both goals in 1-0 league wins over Yanited in 93/94 when they won the double...got hammered by them in the FA Cup final unfortunately).

I loved Sean Lock, one of the very few 'stranger' deaths that have affected me.

He seemed a sweet guy.

I was cycling to work down the Roman Road in East London once.
I stopped at a crossing for a Dad and two kids, it was none other than Sean.

I loved that at the very moment he walked right in front of me, he was saying in a very animated way to the one nipper “Just don’t tell your mother!”.

It felt a very Sean Lock moment.

I too found myself getting rather emotional at the passing of Sean Lock. For some reason I was more emotional than I usually am about most celebrity deaths.

Been watching clips of him on YouTube. Hilarious, but very bittersweet.

I've always loved his critique of a kid's panto on The Big Fat Quiz of the Year. The panel are gagging at his brilliant rant.
