Genuine question, i honestly can't remember, did we do this five minutes towelling the ball dry for every throw in on that side by Cash before the set piece coach came?

Is that new?

Delap used to take about two minutes when he was hurling them in for Stoke.

Pretty clever way to run down the clock now we're winning.

Brilliant goal. Beudilia playing well, definitely a number 10 through the middle when all fit. Young and Mcginn playing well too. EL Ghazi fairly anonymous  imo.

Agree with that. Young much better as an LB nowadays. Ramsey been bright on the ball.

It hasn't been great (we're pretty much the definition of a side that's had a disrupted pre season) but will take 1-0 no danger from this. After dodgy opening 20 minutes kept their attacking players pretty quiet.

Miles better in CM with Luiz and Ramsey being aggressive.

World class finish by Ings.

Let's just hope Luiz doesn't become too aggressive. I sometimes have to shut my eyes and pray for the best when he steams into a challenge.

Honestly we have been poor, we try to pass out of defence but look like we've never been coached in the right movements to do so, and we're going to need more than long-throws, flick-ons and finishes out of soccer comics to get up the league this season.

But also, fuck me, that was just utterly maniacal by Ings. 2 in 2 now! Fair to say he's doing what he was signed for.

He's on a yellow so would expect Nakamba around the hour mark.

I thought Cash was taking so long he'd run the clock out. Anyway, it worked. Newcastle can't defend them it seems.
What a cracking finish.

If I was being particularly impatient and pessimistic, I'd say Beundia worries me a tad. I'll give him the benefit of not being 100%, playing in shite conditions, but furthermore, this position on the right doesn't suit him. I would imagine before we see the best from him, Smith will need to figure out who plays where to get the best out of them. Beundia needs to be more central. He does seem to have a good eye for a pass, but when he's fitter I think he'll be sharper off the first few yards.

Minus Bailey and Watkins, we do lack a bit of pace up top. But...the fact we've still got those options to come in is something to look forward to.

Early season can be all about grinding results sometimes, whilst getting up to speed. Stay tight, keep probing for another and don't try to sit on the lead. I'd be tempted to bring on Hourihane to perhaps give us a bit more from set pieces, because Newcastle don't look great defending them, but our delivery hasn't been great.

Alot  etter than last week but still some issues we need to work on. Set pieces barring the goal have been poor. Creating chances has been limited too.

I think ramsey and mcginn have been really good. Mings ahs been abit clumsy at points. Needs to wake up abit. I fear luiz might get another booking. Might need to bring him off early 2nd half.

Would like to see JPB come on for AEG at some pojnt second half too

Ramsey doing okay, perhaps needs to open both his mouth and ears a bit more. McGinn super as per, Buendia doing what I thought he would, and once the pair of them develop a real understanding I think they'll terrorise teams. Big fan, but El Ghazi looks a bit lost out there.

And I've got signal!

And GTG points two weeks in a row!!

Feckin luvvin this.

Decent half. A bit scrappy which is understandable with injuries and new players bedding in. Good recruitmemt in the summer means we now have some real quality in the team

Superb goal but fuck me other than that we’ve been crap.

I seriously worry about the passing out of defence. Our five central players in defence and midfield were all here last season, yet every time the centre-backs or Doug gets hold of the ball it seems like the instructions to the 8s are 'sprint at the goal like Forrest Gump'. Movement here is teamwork, it's something you coach and you need it to play this style at this level. Yet again we haven't seen it.
