It's a very strange league, given the huge gap in quality between the top four and the rest of the league. I've only ever watched two women's fixtures, and the standard of the team in the top four was so far above their opponents it was like watching a premier league side playing a non-league side in the FA Cup.
It's only been a fully professional league for four years, and sometimes that shows. It will take time I think before the level is brought up such that the entire league is a bit more competitive. The Women's Championship is still part-time, so it's no surprise to see promoted teams struggle, the gap is wider than in the men's game. I'd love to see a successful women's team at Villa, and I hope over the next few years we can reduce close that gap to the top four in the way we hope the men's team will.
