So spurs can spend more cos they they have all these concerts at there stadium.

Why cant we just make one of the many businesses our owners own "operate" from Villa Park?  Is that any less valid than the fact the stadium is used for gigs?

I dont really understand how the fact they host a beyonce gig means they can spend more on players.

Although 'we' don't own Villa Park, which probably complicates things.

I doubt there are any restrictions on the lease given who we lease it from.

In addition to other excellent idea.

I dont see why we dont just suggest well sue for anti-competitive behaviour.   At the end of the day - virtually every business in a growth phase makes a lost.  There are countless other examples in football of it working.

We’ve hired the lawyer defending Vinnys cousins mate in My Cousin Vinny.

Depends what his brief is. Probably something like ‘keep us out of sporting sanctions while we push spending ‘til it blurs the lines of the legal limit’. I’m sure we could easily have easily complied by not spending enough money to win the cup or qualify for the Champions League, but we wouldn’t have liked that either would we?

I appreciate you view Percy, the reality is it is a hard slog to compete with the rules as they are, but we have a plan and we seem to be doing well at it. Europa champs and champs league qualifiers.

We should also remember we have the fourteenth highest revenue in the world. Can we be sure we’d compete if it was a free-for-all?

Wait - its taken 10 years to work out whether payments for "consultancy" are actually just circumvienting the rules - I dont think they be able to work out that Aston "Villa" dont own "Villa" Park

And it stinks

It sucks. It's anthropologically unjust. But the takings are up by a third. Cvnts are still ruling the world.

The fundamental problem with 'FFP' is that it's designed to stop clubs going out of business due to owners not managing the finances properly, but it explicitly prevents the sort of things businesses in the real world would do to prevent that happening.

For example, if the REAL aim was to prevent clubs going out of business when poorly run, you could allow owners to be directly liable for the money spent by the clubs.  Make them put total contract values and transfer fees into escrow.  Make sure that if the owner gets hit by a bus, the club will never lose a single penny.

If every financial commitment made by a club, is covered by cash in escrow, then the club is never at risk.

The issue of course is that clubs would then become billionaire playthings, but then you can come up with some other rule to prevent them spending a billion quid in a single transfer window - but let's stop pretending the rules are there to protect smaller clubs, rather than protect the status quo.

Indeed. We’ve a few more tricks up our sleeves yet I’m sure.

We lease it so any income is on us. So no restrictions in terms of activities and we would be liable for any regulations. Ownership almost irrelevant.

Well having as much to spend as they want didn’t go too well for manure and spurs over the years.  So as long as we still had Emery it then becomes spend as much as you want and then it comes down to the best coach which I think we’ve got.

For PSR in the Prem, did we vote for these rules? Apologies, I cannot remember.

Not sure, but at least 14 clubs must have.

I'm ok with a fine if we haven't complied with the laws, but I'd love to know why it was increased significantly given our position has clearly improved significantly since last summer. It feels like they've taken the Europa league win into account and added to the punishment as a result.

Villa voted against the introduction of PSR rules, which came into force in 2015-16.

Tanswell says out improvements effectively knocked 15 million off the 22.5 million fine which had been expected.
