It's all very interesting, and I hope that the appeal is thrown out as I feel there is too much scope for the points deduction penalty to be ineffective.

You could argue that the points deducted will often be more important for how much compensation risk it opens you up to, rather than how it impacts your season.

It's also a bit more poetic justice if the result is you end up shooting yourself in the foot for PSR / SCR because you had to pay off your rivals compensation claims.

No doubt it won't be long till owners find a way to pay off the claims out of court via other means that don't come from the club coffers for PSR.

What cases might be pursued against Cit£h if this appeal by Everton is rejected and they are made to pay Burnley?!
Surely the whole Premier League house of cards might be under threat if clubs that could have won trophies but didn't because Cit£h won illegally take the legal route, using Burnley's case as precedent.

I don't know where you'd start with that.

I mean, how would you determine if we would have won the 2020 League Cup? The money for it would only be a few hundred thousand.

And if they were stripped of it, would we really want it added to our honours list in that fashion? I wouldn't.

If Burnley's claim is they'd have all that Premier League money had Everton been relegated, I guess there will be loads of fifth-placed Premier League teams from those years arguing about how much Champions League money they should be entitled to.

There's a banter-tastic scenario where Everton get their money to pay back Burnley from Man City compensating Everton for only finishing fifth in 2014.

I would definitely take it. And the compensation claim wouldn't just be for loss of prize money on the year in question but loss of money from not qualifying for Europe which we would have done as winners.

We would also be suing them for not qualifying for the Champions League, last year.

Obviously depending on how many points they lost.

Ah, I forgot about pesky europe.

I would be interested in the money, but I feel that a cup win without a win on the pitch...

Maybe I can get compensation for my match ticket as it was effectively fixed?  :P

Every club should sue them. From PL to Sunday league sides.

Pretty much every club who has lost to them will have the foundation of a claim in some way or another.

We qualified for that final fair and square. They qualified through cheating. I’d happily take the belated trophy and not feel in any way embarrassed by it…. C115y on the other hand.
