European Super League would end it for me. I don't expect Villa to be at or even near the top, but we should always at least be able to aim to be. So should Everton, Wigan, Halifax and even Small Heath. If they were to just make the top tier a closed shop like in rugby, removed from even the illusion of meritocracy, I would probably find something else to do with my time.

More moaning on Off Topic, most likely.

I am also beginning to think the ESL should happen - but for anyone becoming involved in it it should be a one way ticket with no coming back - players, coaches and managers. No return to clubs left in national structures and no international football, no World Cups, no Euros or Copa America.

It wouldn't work. It only works on paper and on Tv but as a replacement for the weekly matchday experience for supporters it doesn't. No real rivalry, no real away days, no derby days etc etc. Imagine being mid table in the super league with nothing really to qualify for, no big games coming up against rivals or derbies just accumulating money to pay players that aren't really providing much entertainment for you an exorbitant wage.

If UEFA had bollocks they'd call their bluff and see what happens. It wouldn't. Fan backlash would end it within a week. UEFA are complicit in it, they're on the gravy train.

I don’t think it would work either - they always overlook the value fans bring to the “brand” and “experience”. It’s the sort of thing that would probably start out popular, but really drop off once it became the norm.

The LIV super league?
I agree that I dont have a problem with the favoured "big" teams joining but can they fuck continue in the premier league with such a financial advantage.

As our coefficient places us in the top 20, and above Man United, our Vakue Pillar money should go up a fair whack shouldn't it?

I think so. I'm sure this season's Value Pillar is already set though.

I don't think a break away super will happen. They'll realise that in a league of say 20 'super' clubs, most of them will fail results wise. And if there's CL to go for, who cares who finishes 2nd or 3rd etc. And no one is going to want to go from being at the top domestically to finishing 18th.

And if they want it as well as domestic football I hope every domestic league stands as one and tells them to fuck off.

The plan originally was to have it alongside domestic football, wasn't it?
