Surely at some point in a Bosman type of case a club or group of clubs will challenge this. The rules are so heavily skewed in favour of the established financial few and clearly restrict growth from challengers. It’s so prohibitive that revenues receive the greatest weight to financial fairness. Losses, debt seemingly much less relevant. The rules ensure chasing teams in all the major leagues never catch the elite clubs. It’s helped UEFA stop a breakaway league which seems a big part of what the rules are as they are.

Not going to happen in PL - nothing changes without 14 votes and there is no way on earth that the likes of  Fulham, Palace, Bournemouth have any ambition to be anything other than money makers….they do everything the cartel clubs want them to and will always fall into line like obedient lemmings.

Let us hope for the downfall of these clubs to be replaced by clubs who have do not wish to support the status quo.

Apparently our FER limit is €5m but can be increased to €60m with equity.

Which if I am understanding correctly (and that is a doubt) we would need to generate €66m in sales to get to the €60m threshold of permissible losses or €210m in sales to get to €5m, as your sales are only counted in thirds I believe.

We should just rip the fucking shit out these ****** and sue them into oblivion. Fucking unfair cartel bollocks is anti-EU law.

Spot on. I can't believe that none of these extremely wealthy owners of football clubs have taken the PL on. They keep pumping money in just to stand still. It's clearly a system designed to preserve the current Sky 6 in a privileged position.

I'm not sure of the ins and outs of things right now but if we can make a £17m profit and Chelsea lose £250 but we can't sign players and they can then it's a fucking fix.

It is an absolute miracle that we swim so strongly against this nonsensical tide of rules designed to protect the elite.
It is an absolute miracle that we swim so strongly against this nonsensical tide of rules designed to protect the elite.

I sincerely hope it is by design rather than being asleep at the wheel.  Logically, we have to push the laws, however that strategy stops working if the owners pull the plug.

The legal entity that issued equity (indicatively to Aston Villa Ltd) is highlighted in yellow for orientation.

Things were much simpler when we worried about a flat back four or pushing on with wing backs.

Aston Villa Football Club Ltd issued one share for £22m on 23 March.

Doesn’t that say 22m shares at a pound each?

Somebody on X said there were two such transactions (both in March I think) adding up to (IIRC) £47m.

It is rather tiring try to navigate all this.
Can we just ring clubcall and have them explain it?

Fantastic information from all of of you that I comprehend in a superficial manner and we have sold our silver. So my take is that if we make champions league we are good to go and if we don't we are in decline and should accept out status as triers but not achievers?

We spent the second most on agent fees between Feb '25 to Feb '26. How do I become one? I know contract renewals count towards this but bloody hell.
