Yeah...he was what, £35m? £20m-£25m at best recouped.

£33m rising to £38m with add-ons.

Great attacking play by Buendía in the summer series. 2 goals. And an assist. Was close to a hat trick.

Emery declared his performance 'perfect'.

You could see from his interview the other day on VillaTV that he looks like he's put on muscle and he looked stronger. I was saying at the end of last season that I love Emi, but I was sick of seeing him on his arse with his hands in the air after a challenge, but I can't remember him in that state at all last night against a physical team.

Long may this continue!

He was very good last night. He's never going to go a whole game without getting angry with someone though, is he?

He made that Tonali look like a small boy in the lead up to the first

Yeah, but I like that.

When I was a kid, I was never the biggest and we often played with older lads who thought they could just foul me. The lads who knew me knew I'd only take so much and then they were in for it when I snapped, but the ones who didn't soon learned too.

So I like that he has that streak in him, though attacking people and chasing them off the pitch is obviously not the way to go in the Prem, he can use that anger to drive him.

Plays that role well where he sits between the lines. He still is not able to nail every pass but a couple of killer balls a game are more than useful. Took his goal well, reminded me of his goal at Everton last season.

I thought he was a bit lucky with that heavy touch tbh.  A sharper player than Tonal would have just taken the ball.

But overall it sounds like it was an excellent performance.  I'm a big fan of Buendia, but he does need to step up a level this season.

A Buendiassance would be quite the boon.

Kamara is starting to worry me a little bit. He's a very good (potentially a great) player, but he keeps getting caught on the ball and it'll get punished.

was a hospital pass from Cash , that said Kamara ha been caught out earlier in the game by the press. It happened at Chelsea last season (he got away with that one) then the Leicester H game debacle

Stick Tielemans in instead then, or Tim even!

(Being flippant of course, but isn't it really quite nice to have something that looks like a squad?)
