Touchel behaves so respectfully when things go his way but as we've witnessed, when they don't, his composure is lacking. Three or four losses on the bounce I think he'd seriously lose it.  Especially if he were to get the VAR and ludicrous ref unfavourable decisions we're accustomed to.

Martinez 9
Some good saves.
Emi distribution by kicking leaves a lot to be desired at times but unbelievable today brilliant Goalkeeping.

Konsa 8
Capable at right back but culpable for conceding goal and opportunities their left side. A solid and mainly assured player. Great season and good effort this match marked down for goal conceding

Targett 8.5
Thought made some great challenges. Excellent reading of game if not beaten a couple of timed

Hause 8
Solid with his head and clearing the ball time and again.

Mings 9
Unbelievable leading again from the back  Absolute heroe performance in way he showed class. Very impressed. Southgate called up by England . Could well start vs Croatia

Nakamba 8.5
brilliant covering in the main

McGinn 8.5
Would again be 9 out of 10 if it wasn't for the senseless yellow card. Way he won the ball of Kovacs and led the press in midfield was a joy.

El Ghazi 8.5
Worked it well just gets more and more settled as a dangerous attacking premier league player. One of the best penalty takers in Europe. .5 marked up for being our winning hero

Traore 8.5
(Would be 9 if he passed more )
Made up for fustrating Spurs performance with the desired impact. A goal and could have been more and a lovely but meg to get the penalty.  I observe he competes somewhat or maybe just raises his game when Jack in team and wants to display his abilities to all.

Grealish 8
(Would be an 8.5  to 9 if scored or assisted and didn't fade as well as all the fouling initially).
Exceptional player and talent has an imminent and deserved  call up to england squad. Was rather fired up like McGinn and was needless fouling giving away free kicks but also faded through fatigued. Perhaps could have passed at times but always always make side more dangerous
Class player and no coincidence we win these last 2 matches with Jack in the team. He brought the team forward gives an extra edge.

Watkins 9
Outstanding. Deserves to be in England national team men's squad for Euros. Of the 3 players nothing heard if he like Mings and Grealish are in yet. Here's to a great performance and wonderful season.

Gamesmanship? Cuteness? Clever?

That was all down to Chelsea, you should note their substitute keeper was not ready for the start of the second half, so they could kick off later than Leicester & know what they had to do to make their cup games.
That was gamesmanship.

Yesterday showed the mental side of football to me.

Even though we came under siege first 20 and last 20 minutes generally we remained calm and believed we wouldn't concede (first half) or not win the game.

Compare it to similar spells when we play Man. United and half the players on the pitch are expecting things to go wrong either through a terrible error or bad penalty decision and it usually happens.

Chelsea now only won by more than a goal at VP twice in last 22 years which is some going considering some of the teams they've had in that period.

We just believe more we can get results off likes of Chelsea and Liverpool compared to Man. United I think.

I always look in on other clubs forums to see how they viewed the game so I looked at Chelsea's TheShed. A more obnoxious and classless bunch would be difficult to find. Grealish got a lot of vile abuse but a special mention for the guy who said it was a "pity" their player didn't take out his eye when he got sent off for hitting Jack. They're oblivious to the absolute fact that some of the biggest cheats that have ever played in the Premier league played for them. I'd like to wish a plague of disease carrying fleas on all their houses.

So Touchy got hacked off because there was a delay getting into the dressing room, because losing that vital 15 minutes scuppered his           pre-match preparations and team talk.

Some thoughts:

Does that imply that every second between Chelsea arriving at Villa Park and kick-off was completely accounted for, what if a player needs an unscheduled slash or dump - does that throw everything out of kilter?

If time is that tight, then you'd  expect someone from a nation that's renowned for efficiency and planning to allow a bit of time - just in case.

Looking forward to the coach next season to be chaperoned through the streets of Aston by a convoy of cars travelling at a suitably respectful pace. Perhaps we could arrange for a trainee hearse driver, or even a trainee horse drawn horse driver to be out and about.

Where i live in Sussex its full of them.  The day we played away at Everton i met up with my mate for a beer in the town Square. He had his Everton top on. A Chelsea fan walked past, noticed and started talking to him . Upon hearing I was a Villa fan he.smirked and in that arrogant patronising tone they have claimed it would be an easy three pts for Everton. We obviously   beat Everton that night and Chelsea yesterday. Oh to have seen him again since....
I remember Chelsea fans being arseholes the day after a game at Stamford Bridge under Lambert where there were all sorts of dubious decisions go their way. They'd won the game but there was no humility the way they were dishing out stick. When I moved down here you rarely saw Chelsea fans but obviously since the late 90s there's millions of the buggers now and I find them worse than Man Utd fans.
