Good to see Dean using subs to change the game again.

Traore's not even his usual one trick pony tonight, total luxury in a game like this

He’s a terrible, terrible player.

McGinn simply gives it away too much to ever be a regular in a top 6 team at this level.

That's the sort of issue we'll have to confront sooner or later.

Poor miss from Ollie.

We have some players who are never going to be good enough, but we have some others who plainly are good enough, and we know that because the manager got them playing for that period of 10-12 games where we picked up plenty of points and got some great results.

What we are seeing now is the same players failing to deliver for an extended period of time, and for me, that's the manager failing to get them producing. Missing Grealish is an absolute given, but whilst I see some players out there who aren't up to it, there are others who are just not getting managed very well.

I know there is a place for sentimentality but if Dean Smith wasn’t a Villa fan surely we would all be unified after the last 4 months in saying he should be fired.

We wouldn't.

Why? Because we have accepted our place as subservient or mediocre infinitum? I bet a top side with a more ambitious board would have canned him already.

Because he's hit all his targets.

You’re making my point beautifully. Thanks. Promotion because we became a Championship side. Stay up by the skin of our bollocks on the last day. Finish lower mid table in complete free fall since Christmas. If those are the targets we’ve dropped our standards and expectations as a club and fan base.
They're realistic targets which we're going to hit. Yes, it's shite football at times but look at the last few years, it makes perfect sense to me to build steadily instead of lunging from one catastrophe to another. I mean, life under Tim Sherwood was exciting but...

Being hyper critical, Watkins takes a heavy touch and narrows his angle a tad too often.

Yes, exactly, and it is going to be difficult because we all love him because of things in times gone by, but for me he's been one of our most persistent non-performers this season, one of the worst.

I hope I regret this but here goes.

Despite how much we love him, I just don't think McGinn is good enough.
I don't love him. He's done fuck all most of the season.
