Watkins walked off with the medical staff in the warm up. Still due to start

Barkley has had all his chances and thrown them away  he does not deserve to play for Villa and even if he scores 3 today he will not be playing for us next season so why block our younger prospects chances. Ramsey or Chukwumeka should start ahead of Barkley and Kessler should be at right back.

Some of the language and attitude on here is bizarre given the game hasn't even kicked off yet.

I mean I get used to it after 60 mins if we're losing etc but really?

Agreed. It’s all a bit melodramatic. He’s not played well and maybe this is a mistake. But it’s hardly worth losing ones mind over before a ball has been kicked.

Yes it is.

No it makes us look really small time. He’s a loan player who likely won’t be here next year. We are safe so while I can understand the argument of playing kids, it’s also a local derby where experience helps. There’s no massive risk in playing him plus lots of upside. I hope he does prove all of us wrong but chances are he will come short of that. But 6 pages mostly devoted to Ross Barkley playing is all a little daft.

Well, if Barkley doesn't shine today against a Championship bound West Brom then he never will.

I remember Stephen Ireland had his best ever performance for us against Hereford in a league cup game. Maybe this is going to be Barkleys Hereford moment ?

Hereford were far better quality.

There's some players out there who owe us a performance. Time to deliver.

Who had Wesley back before Grealish?

I've got Glenn Miller back before Grealish.

Disappointing to see a Barkley starting. I just really hope he proves me wrong.
