One thing is we're not getting back to back wins anymore. If we did our league position would give us a mental boost. At the moment we look like we've hit a glass ceiling for this season.

I don't disagree Ez but if we can more from a deeply disappointing Ross Barkley, we may lift that ceiling. Dean does need to get every drop of effort, luck and resilience out of them all.

Hopefully the "drift" doesn't mean us becoming complacent once we attain 40 points ....that said , perhaps the thinking is that European football next season might be too soon and the rebuild of the squad , with an emphasis on improved quality is the priority.
It's been a better than anticipated campaign however it would be a shame for it to fizzle out with us dropping down the table - Top ten will still be a good achievement
