They have some big units in their team and it is those sort of teams we struggle against.  If we keep possession and give away few set pieces we should win.

It's funny though as they're not that kind of team, if you know what I mean, they move the ball around well. But they do seem to score their goal from set pieces rather than open play.

Sounds like Webster might not start. March and Lamptey out too, which is useful.

No, no nerves please. They were frayed enough against Arse and Souf. Let's funeral the buggers.

I don't think our midfield duo havent played particularly well with the ball for the past few games, Mings has had to go long a lot more than planned. Good job Watkins has been in such good form. I'd expect Nakamba to keep his place, Smith is usually big on guys keeping their spot. He was far from impressed with Luiz for a few games particularly v West Ham. Nakamba in fairness to him did bring a bit more positional discipline to our midfield v Arsenal.

But if we continue to go long v Brighton, Watkins will struggle against their 3 x CBs who can all play s bit. Brighton will press from the front so that's going to pose a problem for McGinn (out of position at RCM) and Nakamba who doesn't have the technical ability to play on the half turn. Might be one to drop jack into 10 to get us playing a bit more through the lines.

Key to beating a 5 is retaining possession and stretching their centre halves thinly. I expect Dougie will come back and for him and McGinn to be more disciplined positionally off the ball.

With no Lamperty and March, they're weak at wing back. Webster is likely out too, so Byrne will play, who I suspect Ollie will look to plot up against.

Jack and Traore as wide as possible, full backs really pushing on, with Barkley being quicker to transition wide. We have the measure of them, just avoid the daft line we held on occasions at Villa Park.

Martinez

Targett
Mings
Konsa
Cash

Dougie
McGinn

Barkley

Grealish
Watkins
Traore

Intensity, look after the ball, should win.

The jury is still out on Barkley. I feel he's still fighting his own demons and is still not fully up to speed. The good thing is, as was recently demonstrated with Traore, once players realise we attack and defend as a team, Barkley should start adapting to our style. He's had a tough intro with a great start, injury and fitness. Hindsight is wonderful but it's easy to see why he's struggled with so many games over such a short period of time.

Right now I'd value him at half of what Chelsea are rumoured to say they want. Berkley has a lot to prove but he also has the benefit of having time on his side. I just pray he doesn't leave until the last few games of the season and we get carried away and end up buying a dud.

By his attitude when he gets subbed, he clearly wants to play. Never fully fit and injury prone may be the problem. Given his history, I doubt that Chelsea can ask for an astronomical fee.

The first time we played them they beat us.
That was the 1910 Charity Shield and it is the only national trophy they have ever won.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1910_FA_Charity_Shield
Have we ever won the Charity Shield? I was there when we shared it but I am not aware that we have ever won it.
