Mings minus the errors is a rock - deservedly MoM closely followed by Cash.

We gifted too much possession second half probably through tiredness but we ground that one out by restricting them to very few clear chances.

Great to be the first game of the weekend and to get the win.

Can watch the other games with utter calm and serenity.

These bits on BT with Peter Walton are eye-bleedingly dreadful.

It's funny that we think Arsenal were all over us and spent the second half watching from behind the sofa but  just had an exchange with a Gooner friend who said Villa played very well and they were crap and never going to score.

There build up play was better but we had the only worthwhile chances.

Pass, pass, pass, bore.

The incident with Konsa and Sako first half, I didnt think it was even a foul.

Or the one with Marvelous.  Sako slipped and almost fell into him.

So Arteta moaning about Konsa not getting a red when, if you slow it down Saka made contact with Konsa first!
Didn’t see the penalty shout during the match. Martinez shouldn’t have been pulling his shirt....oh well 😁

neither do I - they just tangled legs. Neither player was to blame.

He’s the perfect example of ‘making it up as he goes along.’

Last season we lose that game, I don't have a single doubt about that. It reminded me of the 1-2 against Chelsea at home.

Mings best game since we were promoted for me.

I thought it panned out exactly like last season at home to Arsenal (albeit not half as nerve shredding as that game was!) We scored an early goal and sat back and chose our attacks on the break and in the end won reasonably comfortably as only hard Martinez save I can recall was the deflected Pepe shot.

He's just a dull, beige, yes man. I've never heard him say anything of even mild interest.

This is how far we've come - we are slightly nonplussed after just doing the double over Arsenal, because the style of performance was below this season's standards.

That puts us on last season's tally now, doesn't it?

Mings was brilliant today

His best game for us in the top division, couldn't fault him. Our back 5 were great with Martinez back to his very best too.

Midfield were very average and thoroughly second best to Arsenal. Nakamba tried hard but isn't good enough for this level, retaining possession against a high press with him in the team is very difficult. McGinn again tried hard but couldn't get into the game at all. Barks, 10 mins aside, was a joke again and embarrassing reaction to being subbed. Traore assist aside was worse. Watkins brilliant and Jack running on empty average enough. Credit to the two lads who came on, gave us much needed graft and energy. Trez in particular was great defensively.

Martinez 8, Cash 7, Konsa 8, Mings 9, Targett 7, Nakamba 5, McGinn 5, Traore 4, Barks 4, Jack 6, Watkins 8. Trez 7, Ramsey 6
