No way can Barkley and McGinn both play in this one. Sanson and Luiz for me, Jack in the 10 with Trez wide left.

Trez is horrible wide left as can't used his left foot. Would switch him to the right where he did very well v Arsenal earlier in the season. Too early for Sanson to start I think, another 20 mins plus would be best. Both Luiz and McGinn can have no complaints if dropped. I like the thought of McGinn further up the pitch but he genuinely looks like he needs a break and Ramsey is a fine athlete.

-------------Martinez
Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett
----------Luiz, Nakamba
Trez, Ramsey, Grealish
------------Watkins

Very strong bench then with Traore, McGinn, Sanson, AEG, Barkley waiting in the wings. Grealish obliterated Bellerin earlier in the season so as much I'd like him moved to 10 there is probably no need to shift him.

No way Ramsey and Nakamba should both play, especially not Ramsey at 10. Jack needs freedom to move around as we've seen what happens when managers figure out how to limit him on the left.

Thanks. Seemed to quite often beat them in the 90s.

Id drop Barkley and El Ghazi . Those two aboslute rubbish last night , couldnt even do simple things and both just kept getting caught in possession and losing the ball .    I would bring Morgan in for this , didnt think SJM was that good neither but he did hit two brilliant passes in the game .

Morgan for Barkley and Bertie for Anwar ... Maybe Nakamba for luiz but maybe with the new guy might be too much to change in midfield.

I'd play Trez again if fit, but I suspect he's still struggling.

Looking at the last 6 matches, I don’t think we are due any 4/5 goals v Arsenal. A 1 goal win will do for me. I think DS will be looking to tighten up again rather than going gung ho. Clean sheet would be marvellous. I’m a little disappointed that Luis won’t be playing against us as I think he’s quite a liability.

Martinez

Targett
Mings
Kinsa
Cash

Morgan
McGinn

Grealish

Traore
Watkins
Trez

Last night after the defeat I thought this team, with Trez on the right and Traore on the left. In the cold light of day, I don’t think Smith will make 3 changes, slightly too radical for him. Traore to come in, as there was something up with El Ghazi, he just looked on a different planet, I think Traore is a better player generally anyway. I think then one of either Luiz or Barclay to drop out. Although he’s not on form, Barclay could have more space against Arsenal than last night.
Tough one to call now. They looked good against wolves until it all went Pete Tong for them, and they are better than when we played them down there.
Saying that we can’t be as bad as last night and hopefully the basics like ball control and spatial awareness will return to all the players.
An optimistic, tight 2-1 (Watkibs, Traore).

Play him for 60-65 mins and then when game frees up a bit bring in Traore. Can't imagine Traore will be doing much tracking of runs from the likes of Tierney and Saka.
