Pleased with the clean sheet and the performance in general.
Obviously finishing let us down. Burnley are an awful team and would be no loss to the PL along with Mee.
El Ghazi played well 1st half but seemed tired in the 2nd as evidenced by his shooting. My frustrations with all our wingers (Traore/El Ghazi tonight and Trez when he plays) is that none of them seem capable of taking their full backs on and getting to the bye-line. I'm sure Watkins would benefit from crosses he could run on to.
Talking of Watkins I would prefer it if he didn't take throw-ins.
Tonight had a feel of being one of those nights when nothing would go in for us, particularly 1st half. It happens, take the positives and move on to the bitters.

I haven't read through all 15 pages so I don't know if anyone saw when a Villa player was about to take a throw in and a passing Burnley player reached out and knocked his arm. What a shower of niggly, dirty, shite.

I respect the job Dyche has done there but think I'd hate watching us play if he was ever our manager compared to even Steve Bruce.

Said in the match thread that Stoke under Pulis were more entertaining to watch over a season than Burnley with the mad Delap long throws.

It's just very basic well drilled football that keeps thme up but I can't ever seen him getting a major club job and press would be all over him quickly if he plays like that with England given he'll probably be a big contender when Southgate is sacked.

We broke the losing run of home games yay. And I thought El Ghazi played well. Certainly offers more than Hourihane.
Compared to all the games last season when he was simply anonymous, I also thought El Ghazi played well and looked a man fighting for his place in the side, shows for me how our strength in depth has much improved since last season, shame about the shooting mind. With Luiz and Barclay in that midfield, I can only think we would of annihilated them cloggers tonight

Westwood was the culprit for the push.

It's a tough one to know with Dyche if that is just him doing the best he can with the relatively scant resources he has available, of if that's his footballing DNA.  Would he play a more expansive style if he had Dean's resources? Dunno.

Ridiculous game, the number of times we got through in an inside channel and fucked it right up. 2 points dropped.

Still, encouraging general play considering the injuries to our best two midfielders. On another day we'd have won by 10. Life goes on.

This.

Yep, it’s just the way things go sometimes. For instance against Liverpool all we seemed to need to do was direct the ball goal-wards and it would find a way of hitting the back of the net. Tonight despite hammering away at their defences for 90 minutes nothing quite went went right.

He's very MON to me. Rigid 4-4-2 system, hardly ever signs foreign players despite them being in prem for 5 years now and claims it's due to having little money for advanced scouting system even though they've spent a fair bit on new training ground. Pulis never changing his style despite spending a fair amount in his last 3 years at Stoke, he just signed more expensive versions of what he had and think Dyche would be the same.

He'd have been a good manager in the period around 2015 simply to keep us up in the league but we want much better than that in next 5 years so would be massively underwhelmed if we replaced DS with him, whenever that may be.

On one touch too much  not so much Jack but others were guilty particularly Traore for his big chance. I mean what the fuck was that? He dealt with it like your average pub player.

He has no right foot and was trying to get it on his left.

A very strange signing.

I think Traore came because we couldn't get Rashica. H won't be here long-term based on what we've seen of him so far. However, I can well imagine him scoring a worldie or two as well...

As for the game, I'm really pleased with the overall performance. Chance after chance that any prospective forward signing would be all over like a rash.

We dominated and we had Barkley, Konsa, Cash, Luiz and Trez missing.

It shows how much we've progressed.

Frustrating mind!

It was awful game of football from both teams - i had a crick in my neck, watching the ball being launched from one of the field to the other.

Without the missing players our subs / reserves are not the standard needed to get this club top half of the table (no wonder we don't want the 5 subs rule!)

I thought the set plays in the main were wasted. Traore needs some crossing practice. However, it could've been worse and I still think at full strength we have a great team.

Considering he hasn't played in the first team for a while I thought Hause did well last night, it was always going to be a physical encounter for him against Burnley, he was pretty dominant in the air and fairly decent on the ball.

We played well for most part. I think we played it long to get Burnley off guard as playing it around meant they’d get everyone behind the ball. They came for a point and succeeded in the main due to our overall poor finishing. JG was easily MOTM. That left footed shot into the near post should have been clipped into Watkins though as he would only have had a tap in if it came his way. I get that Traore needs game time but it’s really hard to see what he brings to the team so far.

Just read that we have had the most clean sheets (6) of any side in the league so far this season. Given the issues of last season that is a real turnaround.
