Thought Hotlips would get a run out though, harsh on him.

Powder puff midfield - shows the lack of depth. Game could go either way
I don't think McGinn, Nakamba and JG is powder puff: it WILL require AEG and Traore to work their nuts off.
I'd like to have seen Ramsey continue, though; and Hourihane may have deserved a start.

Looks like 4 2 3 1 to me with Jack more central which I like.

Team looks incredibly poor without Barkley, Konsa, Luiz and Trez in it.

Don't forget Cash.

I didn't forget him. Guilbert could have easily replaced him tonight if he wasn't getting treated like crap.

The problem for Smith is to win a game where we are expected to win. Odds on favourites for the first time in a long while to win a home game so more worried now,

They'll target corners and free kicks. Mee, Tarkowski, Wood, Brady, Rodriguez.

I would much rather he played Elmo in the middle and Freddie RB than Hause a completely left footed CB playing on the right, or even Mings for that matter. Fuck me

Nah, that sounds like trying to put square pegs in round holes to me. If Konsa is out the choice is between Hause and Engels, not trying to shoehorn an extra full back in there. I prefer Engels but, being a Villa played, he is probably carrying a knock.

I don't even know if Engels is an option because last report he wasn't ready. So Konsa has come down with something and we are going with Hause tonight. In fact I would bet if one of our CB's got hurt tonight what I advocated would happen and Engels would not come on.

Hence playing Hause: he's a decent header of the ball.

Let's hope it's your bog standard common cold and not anything worse...

I wouldn’t be at all confident with that team against most others in this league
But it’s Burnley they’re 3rd from bottom

you’ve got to hope we’ve still got enough especially up front even with that severely weakened side

I'm guessing that if it were the illness de le jour, then we'd have a lot more out and the game wouldn't be happening.
