Nowadays:

Check which channel it's on and if it's something I already pay for.
Make sure the laptop is fully charged half an hour before kick off
Check the team on twitter an hour before
See what's in the fridge that's worth drinking
Tell the kids to turn the TV down
Check Whattsap group for abuse from Midlands-based plastic Mancs and Scousers
Wonder why my stream is two minutes behind peterwithesshin's

2015/16 hide, avoid all social media, WhatsApp groups, broadcast media & newspapers.

2020/21 arrange diary around bizarre kick off times, try and figure out which platform is broadcasting the match, fridge stocked, if dog is sleeping no shouting at Kevin Friend/VAR/lines being drawn on my TV screen by dimwits in Stockley Park.
Beats leaving early to beat the traffic on the Expressway.

The mixture of excitement and sickly nervous feelings on the morning of a game.
