Tricky one - they are no mugs but clearly struggle. We need to be patient, don’t push too hard and allow ourselves to be picked off as we were against Southampton and Brighton.

A 1-0 scrappy win will be just fine, and I think we will

Regardless of the line up, we simply allow them to play in their home kit and us in our away and it’s job done. Easy this management game, innit?

Yet another banana skin game at VP, think this will be 1-1.

Will go for 2-1 win if Barkley is fit though. We'll dominate possesion so having him back would be much needed and think he scored a few against them in recent seasons playing for Chelsea.

Don't think Burnley are much of a team that will press and pick us off. They'll just lump long diagonals all night long to the two CFs and try to get a goal from set piece or lofted cross as they did (twice) at VP last season so we need to be strong there so don't mind AEM coming in at RB.

Not sure what our midfield will look like.

It does seem like 1-1, but a moment of class, then who knows. I’m wary of saying easy game. We should have the quality to pick em off. But......
Score first and take control, hard work’s done.

This is the type of game where we need to up the quality and really put them to bed.

A win here puts us well out of reach of the relegation fodder for several weeks, relieves any lingering doubts and sets us up nicely for the Christmas period

I'd like to see us bring back George Curtis. Andy Lochead and Peter Withe and put them all on Ben Mee. Let him try his scissor tackle knee bollocker on them.

Should be as close to a  "routine home win" as you can get, but nothing seems to be routine these days, especially for Villa at home.  1-0 but not sure which way.

Two things we need to turn round:

a) The rubbish home form
b) The incredibly frustrating habit of following up a good win against a decent team with a loss against one we'd expect to beat

Thursday would be a good time to do both.

Why the hell are we playing on Thursday?  Baggies are playing tonight and get two extra days rest before Sunday.

Burnley don't score many goals but they don't concede many either, 1-0 Villa. I can't see any listings of the game on TV or radio coverage.

They've scored 6 and conceded 18. They're a very functional and limited side. If we want to be top half, it is important we find a way to win games like this at home.

These to me look like exactly the same cloggers they were last season. The only side we've lost to that are close to being as fucking rubbish as them is West Ham, and that result was a freakish one-off. We, on the other hand, are exponentially better than the last time we met. We barely play the same sport now. I can't see any other outcome than them waking up on Friday and giving serious consideration to changing their club colours, such will be the level of their humiliation.

We've got to get out of this mindset that every match is a potential defeat and every good result will be followed by a bad one.
