Dougie Luiz masterclass first half .
He's the one running the midfield and cleaning up

I wish a bit more adventures from our full backs could see us push on and support supply to Watkins.

Impressed first half after conceding and i feel we should really be ahead.
Let's keep this going
Up the villa.

Slow start but controlled posession and tempo after.  If we keep at them I feel hopeful.  Also Watkins looks decent =P

to be fair to Mings the ball he played through for McGinn a few minutes before we scored was a top class through ball.

Good to see SHA have their usual match thread open including this gem.

it’s the aggravating factor for me

they have a shandy owner, get bailed out and get to build a team around their talismanic “fan” player

we meanwhile have to sell any half decent player at the first knocking and don’t get chance to build a team around our star “fan” player

Mings is not a ball playing footballer he just needs to concentrate on defending and cut everything else out

he’s a liability when he starts piss pooling about

Not sure what people expect from Watkins, it's a midfield battle and he's doing a far better job for us than Antonio is for them so far. What he's doing well is watching where Jack goes and moving into the space it creates. We haven't found him well enough but he's playing his part in moving defenders around.

Just don't think it's been his night so far Paul and he hasn't been able to hold the ball up too often.  It happens, but it's where we need another option to come off the bench.

Have settled well after a slow start. Key for me was swapping of Hourihane and McGinn. Have been delighted with Hourihane so far, got us playing when he dropped next to Luiz.  McGinn eventually got going after a very slow start. Watkins and Konsa very close to scoring and Hourihane not far off.
Their goal was a carbon copy of the Southampton one. We look very vulnerable at set piece time to be honest. Ridiculous shit from Targett and Mings again for the corner before half time, we need to any unnecessary defensive set pieces.

Stay off there. It's not good for your mental health.

Mings thinks he's Pele again
Fucking put it in row z.

Sky Ticket here in Germany don't have fake crowd noise, so we can hear everything, and Dean went ballistic at Mings after that one!
Reminds me of when we used to sit in the Trinity for the reserve games.

Yep and that was the right time to play the pass. He had time and space and executed it really well. That’s the right type of risk - the turn was all risk and very little potential for reward.

Bugger. Benrahma doing more in thirty seconds than Antonio did in the first half.
