Great article, as ever, Dave.
Captures the feelings of us all so succinctly.
I missed the game in 76....my first job and the staff Christmas dinner.... I was told I was "expected to attend". Sat at a table with 3 Liverpool fans who wouldn't believe me when I went to phone Villa Park to check on the score.
Last night was better.....at least I saw it!
If this is what happens when I'm not there I'll happily pay NOT to go to games again!
UTFV!

You capture the moments of supporting Villa pretty much perfectly.

I think the difference with 1976 is that, even though it was Liverpool, when we went 3-0 nobody thought that Liverpool could pull the game back.  We have gone through such a bad spell over the last 10 years, even at 4-1 and 5-2, there was that thought that it could all go wrong.

It has been a long time since I have seen Villa have the confidence to push on and not sit back.  I always believe you should play to your strengths and for this team, going forward is our strength.  There was a belief running through the team last night and it showed in the effort from every single player.

Still got origin error

Same here.

I think/hope it might have fixed itself.

Cant speak for other browsers, but in firefox opening the page in a private window usually fixes it for me.

Edit : I get the origin error without the private window.

Same in chrome on my phone. Open incognito and its fine. But origin error if I just open

1. I was there in 1976.  That first half was the best I have ever seen from Villa. However, Sunday's match was a superior performance because we were on top from the first minute till the last and against and arguably superior Liverpool team. There was just no let up. I even thought Traore was going to get on the scoresheet.
2. Everywhere I go at the moment when people see my Villa mask they wax lyrical about Sunday and some of our players, especially Jack. When I first wore it all I heard was "you only stayed up by the skin of your teeth".   Sunday really gave us back our pride.
