I'm struggling to work out what Dean Smith's thinking is regarding the fringe players he has out.  With the exception of Ramsey, who is doing fine, he knows exactly what the others bring or don't bring to the team.  It's the first game of the season and surely he should be working on match fitness for his preferred line-up and not giving opportunities to players who, for the most part won't get a look in.
Totally agree. I get why McGinn and Luiz are not playing, and why Trez and Konza don't need to show what they can offer, but where is Cash and where are the kids (Kesler, Barry, Archer and Bridge)?
I'm not suggesting playing rookies from the start, but play a strong side from the start and then bring 2 or 3 on.

Agreed Dave. It seems nowadays it's almost obligatory to use squad players in the cup but at this stage in the season and particularly as we did not play this weekend gone and  play our first league match in 6 days it's a nonsense approach IMO.

I was thinking the same but then perhaps he’s playing them to put them in the shop window in an attempt to sell them. It’s backfiring badly with Angela

Come on...let’s try getting behind them for a change, sloppy goal but some good movement and Ramsey I Like.

Not sure that Nakamba is ever going to learn to not get robbed like he did ......again.

If Deano's idea was to put some of the dross into the shop window it's looking like a waste of time.

Does seem slightly odd that given that our first league game is 6 days away we’ve fielded the side we have.

Ramsey has looked good, better than Lansbury. We will win this but that first half was hard to watch, we can not break teams down

Ramsey looking better than Lansbury is hardly difficult.

But he does look bright,  especially first 30 mins

Agreed. Cam played for the U23s last night and does not seem to figure in Smith's plans at the moment. Barry has not yet really featured for any of the U18, U21 or U23 sides. Surprised not to see Bridge to be honest but Kesler thinks he is a lot better than he really is.
