I'm now worrying about a grinning Troy Deeney scoring to make sure that Watford beat Arsenal by 2 clear goals in 90+ minutes to send us down...

We'll get something, the others wont. Party time.

This is where I'm at too. It's the "theres been a goal at Goodison/Emirates" type moments which remind me of that bloody horn on WM in the 70s and 80s before the internet and mobile phones!

Memories...Like when Butler would tell us Villa fans to get the prayer mats out...which I duly did kneeling on my Villa rug as a spotty teenager when we were playing in some distant EC away leg.

Here's to not needing it this time.

West Ham 2/1 Draw 13/5 Villa favourites at 13/10. The bookies nearly always fancy the team that has to get a result rather than the team that doesn't have to.

Assuming we win, they need to win 3-0 to overtake us.  Our GD is 1 better than Watford, so if we win 1-0 say, it's 2 better.  If they then won 2-0, we'd stay up on goals scored.

Wouldn't it be lovely if for a change, we hade a great, stress-free weekend?  Watford and Bournemouth both two down at half time, Villa two up.

The more the week has gone on the more I think we are the team with momentum who are not in the mood to screw this up.  That said I still feel physically sick.

I will settle for a very boring 0-0 in all 3 games.

That doesn’t sound very boring to me, it sounds as stressful as all hell!  0-0 in all three games at 85 minutes knowing that a goal for West Ham or Watford sends us down, not ta!

Agreed, it would be the final straw for my half-wrecked heart if it all came down to the last few minutes.

Survival by hook or by crook, of course, but I'd rather we had it more or less in the bag by the 60 minute mark, based on all results. Probably too much to ask/hope for.

Guess i'm the only one that would quite like that we stay up thanks to an injury time goal then.

I am seriously considering going for a long walk, starting at 4pm on Sunday with no phone.
I can record the match, get back at 5:45 and check in on here before either watching the game, relaxed or deleting it without watching.

I really don’t know if my heart can go through the turmoil of watching live with the other scores filtering in.

My Mrs reckons there is no way I won’t watch it, but I am giving it serious consideration.

This is exactly what I’ve done last 3 games and I’m not changing now. I just can’t live with the utter turmoil. I live in Sutton so seriously considering walking along the canal joining it at the Tyburn House at about 4ish and walking to Villa Park. Perhaps just sit outside a bit and take in the beauty of the place before looking at the scores at 5:50pm and hopefully be in the right place for a solo celebration. Might even take my flag and adorn it on the claret and blue gates outside the Trinity Road. Either way, I can’t possibly watch it, I’ll be physically sick .

This. Us, Everton and Arsenal to be ahead.

Been bit critical of Grealish pre and post lockdown. But he was decent against Everton and superb against Arsenal. This feels like his day, possibly, probably his last day for Aston Villa. He will score, we will win, it's in the stars, momentum is everything.
