If you have listened to Smith's pre-match interview just now on Sky you should understand his reasons behind his line up tonight.  He has picked the players who have impressed him most since the return to training.  What else is he supposed to do?

Nervous for first time in a long time but there's this surrealness to it all  and for obvious reasons.

Given the circumstances, who knows how the players will respond? I'm treating this as a clean slate and trying to forget November-March happened. Feels like August to me. Yes I have significant doubts, but I'm a lot more positive than if we'd been lining up without three months to reset.

Come on Villa!

It's back. That churn of the stomach anxiety all the more so because who knows what will happen in this weird place we find ourselves in?

100 days on and the reality dawns why we are in  the position we are.........that really is a weak squad - certainly not of the quality required  to stay in this league let alone thrive in it  - draw :(

Great, Rob Hawthone commentating, doesn't like us. From Tioton.

No weaker than Sheff Utd's, in my opinion. Scrape through this season, no matter what, and we can hopefully look forward to better things!

Our bench pisses all over theirs. Unless you wish we had 78 year old Jagielka, long retired Jack Rodwell etc on our bench.

Utterly ridiculous in real life. 2 metres apart no handshakes then the whistle blows. Fucking bonkers.
